Menopause

When your periods end, freedom begins.

Menopause represents the end of menstruation and female fertility. It's not a disease that needs to be cured, but a natural life-stage transition that happens gradually. During this time, many women experience irregular periods and perimenopause symptoms that can last for years. Menopause is considered complete when a woman has not had a period for a year. Menopause commonly occurs in the United States between the ages of 47 and 53.

Symptoms:

  • Irregular periods
  • Hot flashes
  • Night sweats
  • Headaches
  • Irritability

Some women find relief with hormone therapy. However, treatment of menopausal symptoms should be undertaken on an individual basis.

At New Horizons Women’s Care, we're here to help make your transition a smooth one.
